Sage is back!

My bikepacking and RC car co-pilot is back in town. Gpx file of a fun day ride, plus RC action!
Day ride to Presa La Mina

I’ll update this post as the week goes on. But to kick off, here’s our Sunday Day trip to Presa La Mina. Sundays are a great day to cycle in Oaxaca, as the city streets are much quieter than during the week, making it far more family-friendly. This is one of my favourite mellow day rides, it’s flat and fast-rolling, and takes you to a lovely body of water, which is especially welcome at this bone-dry time of year.

On the way out we munched on gorditas and on the way back we rode by Tule to guzzle down nieves. Then we wrapped it all up by following the bike path back into town. With a little more energy, we’d have enjoyed a barbacoa finale at Obispo, but the climb to San Felipe del Agua and the heat of the day warded us off…

And note to self – more water next time!

This guy. Always up for a day out. And an ear tug from his brother.

Say no to energy gels. Say yes to plump gorditas!

What more could you want?

All bikes (and trikes) are great!

Huesos appraises an unexpected situation on the dirt road beyond Tlalixtac.

A thirsty Huesos was happy to have a sip from Presa La Mina.

Keep it simple. Neveria La Rosa, in Santo Domingo Tomaltepec, is hard to beat it for ambiance.

Huesos channels his inner callejero with a casual flop in the street.

And (yet) more aguas and nieves in Tule… Sage went for horchata with a blob of mango.

Ultimate Dogpacking and RC Car Driving setup??

Jones HD/e, Francis Farfarer, Buckhorn waxed canvas panniers, Mountain Laurel Design Poco panniers, BXB Goldback, and a Wizard Works framebag.

Room for 2 x Traxxis Rustlers…

And towing capability too, in case Sage runs out of snack power…

Ma boy. (heart emoji)

Mudguards are great for keeping mud at bay… and for stickers. Mushroom by Emma, BiciBici Oaxaca by Yeshe.

Mira La PerRa!

On one of our loops, we bumped into John out training to ride the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route… with Mira!

Another day, another bike ride/dog walk/RC session!

Incidentally, these Austere Manufacturing cam straps have been great, they go everywhere with me, and I’m forever finding uses for them.
